What's it all about?

Innovation runs through everything we do at Linklaters – our legal advice, the way we deliver our service to clients and the way we run our business.
For us, teamwork and looking at problems differently are a fundamental part of who we are and something we all experience every day.

We are now inviting innovative, creative and ambitious students to join our Team Linklaters, working together with our lawyers to generate creative and innovative ideas for the leading law firm of tomorrow.

How will it work?

Each team will be formed by five students and three Linklaters lawyers from the same country. The number of local teams will vary by country.

The Linkathon will kick off with a virtual event on 18 January 2021 and run until 7 February. It is an opportunity for team members to work together to generate ideas while getting to know each other and forming a network of students and lawyers across Europe. They will receive support and coaching throughout the Linkathon.

While each team will decide how to structure their work, we anticipate that each participant will spend 5-10 hours each on the Linkathon.

The challenge

What should tomorrow’s leading law firm do to:

  • attract and retain curious, creative and empathic lawyers, with a growth mindset and an entrepreneurial drive
  • create a culture of where everyone feels they truly belong and can bring their whole self to work
  • grow their client base and engage with clients in innovative ways
  • embrace new ideas, technology and tools
  • encourage their teams to try new things and not be afraid to fail
  • raise the bar for driving long-term sustainability in the legal market
Hit us with your best shot! We want to hear your most creative and innovative ideas.
How to join?

The Linkathon is open to all current law students in Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. The selected students will be contacted via email and invited to join our kick-off call on 18 January.

Selected the winning ideas

All ideas will be reviewed by our judges; a panel of innovation experts and EuroCom Mirror Board members. The Mirror Board was established in 2019 by the European Managing Partners (EuroCom) to give young lawyers an opportunity to share new perspectives and ways of thinking, including strategic challenges such as how we can best drive innovation and the use of technology.

The top three teams will qualify as finalists. The finalists will then be invited to present and discuss their ideas virtually with our panel. The winning students and lawyers will be treated to a team dinner, access to our informative LegalTech learning modules, an audience with some of the firm’s most valued innovation lawyers and a exclusive question and answer session with our most innovative partners that have delivered on high-profile innovation projects. The panel will be made up of the architects of Nakhoda, LegalTech experts and coding enthusiasts.
